About the game

Heroscape Master Set: Battle for the Underdark is the third master set in the Heroscape line, crossing over into the world of Dungeons & Dragons with 10 rebased D&D miniature figures and 55 modular terrain pieces. Drow, trolls, and rumored black dragons threaten the realm of Valhalla, and Valkyrie Generals summon heroes to stop them. Players build their own battlefield from the modular terrain, then use dice-based combat to fight it out across the icy, ruined landscape. Designed for 2 players in about 60 minutes, it's built around tactical miniature combat and customizable board layouts.

Hobbli's Notes

This is a fan-favorite crossover set for Heroscape and D&D collectors, offering a huge pile of terrain and miniatures for the price. The modular board system remains one of the best in tactical miniatures gaming, though newcomers should be ready for setup time and a discontinued support line.

What we like

  • Crosses over with the Dungeons & Dragons miniatures line.
  • Modular terrain system allows for endless battlefield configurations.
  • Large amount of included miniatures and terrain for the price.
  • Dice-based combat keeps rules accessible.

Keep in mind

  • Modular terrain setup and teardown takes real time.
  • Miniature storage and organization can be a hassle.
  • Discontinued product line limits future expansion support.

Who it's for

Great for miniatures and tactical combat fans aged 8 and up, especially those who enjoy Dungeons & Dragons crossover content.
