About the game

FITS (Fill In The Spaces) is Reiner Knizia's take on a multiplayer Tetris, where each player has their own inclined board and races to fit falling polyomino pieces into the best configuration. Cards drawn from a shared deck determine which piece everyone receives, and pieces can be rotated or flipped before sliding down to dock with previously placed pieces: though unlike video-game Tetris, there's no horizontal sliding once a piece lands. Scoring rewards efficient use of space and specific patterns, with points lost for uncovered squares. Since there's no time pressure, every player can engage with their own board at their own pace, and several official and fan-made expansions extend its replayability.

Hobbli's Notes

Knizia translates the addictive puzzle logic of Tetris into a clever tabletop format, and removing the time pressure makes it more thoughtful than its video-game inspiration. The simultaneous multiplayer-solitaire structure keeps everyone busy at once, which is great for keeping downtime low. It's an easy, satisfying puzzle that holds up well across many plays.
