About the game
Take It Easy! is a beloved multiplayer-solitaire puzzle where every player fills their own hexagon-shaped board with numbered, colored tiles as a caller draws them one at a time. Each player decides independently where to place the called tile on their own board, aiming to complete matching lines across three directions. Scoring rewards completed lines by multiplying the tile's number by the length of the line, so careful spatial planning pays off even though everyone is racing the same draws. Despite superficial similarities to Bingo, it's ultimately a game of skillful placement rather than pure luck.
Hobbli's Notes
This is a genuine classic: simple to teach, quick to play, and endlessly replayable thanks to its clever line-scoring math. The shared-draw, individual-board structure means everyone experiences the same randomness but can still outplay each other through smart placement. It's a fantastic filler for mixed-age groups and a great example of elegant design from decades ago.
What we like
- Simultaneous solitaire play means it scales easily to large groups.
- The line-scoring system rewards genuine spatial planning skill over pure luck.
- A 20-minute playtime makes it a great filler for any game night.
- It's simple enough to teach in a couple of minutes.
Keep in mind
- The lack of direct player interaction may feel too solitary for some groups.
- Its simplicity means limited strategic depth for dedicated gamers.
- Repeated plays can feel similar since the core puzzle never changes.
