About the game

Sushizock im Gockelwok is a fast, silly dice game from Reiner Knizia in Zoch's small-square-box series. Players roll five dice hoping to collect sushi and fishbone tiles from the center, with the tile you claim determined by what you roll. Roll enough matching chopstick symbols and you can steal tiles right out of another player's stash instead. Since surplus fishbones cancel out your hard-earned sushi at the end, timing your grabs and steals is everything.

Hobbli's Notes

A cousin to Knizia's beloved Pick-omino, this one trades in worms for sushi and adds a spicy dash of player interaction through the chopstick steal. It's chaotic, quick, and a little mean in the best way: perfect for warming up a game night.

What we like

  • Fast-paced push-your-luck dice rolling that keeps everyone engaged.
  • Direct player interaction through the chopstick stealing mechanic.
  • Simple rules that are easy to teach in minutes.
  • Quirky sushi theme appeals to both kids and adults.

Keep in mind

  • Heavy reliance on dice luck limits strategic control.
  • Stealing tiles can feel mean to newer or younger players.
  • Limited strategic depth for veteran gamers.
