About the game

Battlestar Galactica: The Board Game casts players as pilots, politicians, and engineers aboard the last human battlefleet, desperately fleeing toward the mythical planet Earth. Everyone works together to manage fuel, food, morale, and Cylon attacks, but one or more players secretly serve the enemy. Loyalty cards can flip allegiances mid-game, so trust is a fragile and constantly shifting resource. Crisis cards force hard choices every round, and a single hidden traitor can unravel the crew's best-laid plans. It is a tense, story-driven semi-cooperative game built on suspicion and sacrifice.

Hobbli's Notes

This is one of the gold standards of hidden-traitor design, and the licensed Battlestar Galactica theme genuinely elevates the tension instead of feeling pasted on. The variable loyalty deck means even veteran groups can't fully relax, which keeps replays exciting years later. Downtime and rules overhead are real costs, so we recommend it for groups who already enjoy long, talky games. It rewards a table willing to argue, accuse, and occasionally storm off in character.

What we like

  • The hidden traitor mechanic creates genuine, lasting suspicion at the table.
  • The licensed theme is deeply integrated into the crisis and character design.
  • Variable player powers give every character a distinct feel.
  • Escalating crises keep tension high throughout a long game.

Keep in mind

  • Playtime and downtime are both substantial, especially with six players.
  • Rules overhead is heavy for newcomers to hidden-role games.
  • A dominant or silent traitor can deflate the experience for the table.

Who it's for

Best for adult fans of the show or of tense social deduction games, played with 3-6 people willing to commit a full evening.
