About the game

Dungeon Twister is a 2-player tactical dungeon-crawl game where two teams of adventurers battle amid eight modular rooms that can be physically rotated and rearranged. Using action points fueled by a shared pool of cards, players move characters, fight opponents, and manipulate the dungeon layout itself to gain an advantage. Each side commands identical rosters of characters with unique powers, from fast runners to trap-disarming specialists. The first player to reach 5 victory points, earned by extracting adventurers or defeating enemies, wins. It plays in about an hour and rewards tight tactical thinking.

Hobbli's Notes

Dungeon Twister remains a clever, puzzle-like tactical game thanks to its literal dungeon-twisting mechanic, where rotating rooms can trap or free your opponent's units. The shared card pool for actions is an elegant touch that keeps both players reading the same resource pressure. It can feel a bit fiddly with its many character abilities and rules exceptions, so expect a learning curve. A cult favorite for fans of abstract tactical dueling games.

What we like

  • Unique modular dungeon rooms that rotate and reshape the map.
  • Asymmetric character powers create varied tactical approaches.
  • Tight head-to-head combat suited for two dedicated players.
  • Card-driven action economy adds a layer of bluffing and planning.

Keep in mind

  • Rules can feel fiddly with many character-specific exceptions.
  • Strictly a two-player game, limiting group flexibility.
  • Dated presentation compared to modern tactical games.

Who it's for

Best for two dedicated strategy gamers (ages 12+) who enjoy tactical combat and puzzle-like map manipulation.
