About the game

Wispwood invites players into a magical forest populated by glowing, mischievous wisps, each with its own personality and preferences. On a turn, players choose a wisp tile and a shape to place into their personal grid-based forest, aiming to satisfy each wisp's desires and the magical trees' preferences across three scoring rounds. Between rounds the forest shifts, fading in some areas and expanding in others, while previously placed wisps remain fixed, reshaping future possibilities. New goal cards each game keep the forest-building experience fresh from session to session.

Hobbli's Notes

A charming, whimsical tile-placement puzzle with a lovely shifting-board twist that keeps players adapting their plans round to round. As a newer release we haven't seen it played extensively, but the changing goal cards suggest solid long-term replay potential.

What we like

  • Charming, whimsical forest theme with glowing wisps.
  • Flexible drafting and tile-placement puzzle.
  • Changing goal cards keep games fresh across sessions.
  • Works well both solo and in groups.

Keep in mind

  • Newer release with limited player track record.
  • Abstract scoring may feel disconnected from the theme.
  • Shifting forest board can complicate long-term planning.

Who it's for

Good for pattern-building puzzle fans aged 8 and up, playing solo or in groups of up to four.
