About the game
Covenant follows a clan of dwarves reclaiming their sacred ancestral mountain from the dark forces that have occupied it. Across three ages, players assign dwarves to tasks that let them dig deeper into the mountain, battle enemies, and construct buildings that restore the ancient dwarven city. Action points, set collection, and zone-of-control mechanics combine to create meaningful tactical choices each turn. A solo mode is included for players who want to take on the mountain alone. Supporting 1 to 4 players, games run around 100 minutes, with the clan earning the most glory taking victory.
Hobbli's Notes
Covenant delivers a satisfying fantasy worker-placement experience with a real sense of progress as your dwarven city is rebuilt piece by piece. The three-age structure gives the game a natural narrative arc within a single session, which we appreciate. As a fairly new release, it hasn't yet built up a long track record, so we'd suggest keeping expectations grounded until more plays are logged. A solid choice for fans of fantasy-themed worker placement looking for something new.
What we like
- Rich dwarven fantasy theme of reclaiming an ancestral mountain.
- Combines worker placement with exploration and combat for varied actions.
- Solo mode included for flexible single-player play.
- Three distinct ages create a satisfying campaign-like arc in one game.
Keep in mind
- Relatively long 100-minute playtime with moderate-to-high complexity.
- Newer title with a limited track record of community feedback.
- Combining worker placement with combat may need extra teaching.
Who it's for
Good for strategy gamers and fantasy fans (ages 14+) who enjoy worker placement with exploration and combat elements.
