About the game
In Botanicus, players become 19th-century aristocrats building their own botanical garden, collecting and arranging plants to satisfy visitors' preferences. Through a unique action-selection mechanism, players compete for the best action spots each round to acquire plants, water them, manage a gardener, and earn money along the way. Success is measured by how many visitors are satisfied and how beautiful the finished garden looks. With modular board setup and set collection at its core, no two gardens grow the same way twice.
Hobbli's Notes
Botanicus offers a gentle euro experience wrapped in a charming botanical theme -- the garden-tending puzzle of matching plants to visitor preferences gives it a satisfying tactile feel. The action-drafting mechanism for choosing action spots adds a nice layer of competitive tension without becoming cutthroat. It's a pleasant mid-weight euro for players who enjoy set collection and tile placement without excessive complexity.
