About the game

Seaside is a serene set-collection and push-your-luck game built entirely from wooden tokens representing sandpipers, crabs, shells, rocks, and waves. Each turn you draw a token blind from the bag, secretly choose which side to play, and either add it to your growing Seaside stack or throw it back into the sea for another draw. Blue-marked tokens let you keep going, while white-marked tokens end your turn, creating constant tension between greed and safety. The interlocking effects of the different elements, sandpipers fetching isopods, rocks unlocking crabs, waves flipping beach tiles, reward players who read the ecosystem carefully. When the bag empties, whoever has stacked the tallest pile of tokens wins.

Hobbli's Notes

Seaside is a gentle, meditative push-your-luck game dressed up in lovely all-wood components and a calming coastal theme. The token-only design is a neat gimmick that keeps the table tidy and the tactile experience pleasant. It's light enough for a relaxed family session but has just enough interlocking token synergies to reward paying attention. It's a nice change of pace game rather than a headline title for serious strategy gamers.

What we like

  • Charming, tactile all-wooden-token design.
  • Quick 20-minute playtime with low downtime.
  • Interesting push-your-luck decisions each turn.
  • Scales from solo play up to five players.
  • Relaxing coastal theme and presentation.

Keep in mind

  • Token draw luck plays a large role in outcomes.
  • Limited strategic depth for experienced gamers.
  • Newer, lesser-known title with a smaller track record.
