About the game

Mindbug: Beyond Evolution is a standalone expansion for the acclaimed dueling card game Mindbug, introducing an Evolve effect that lets creatures progress through a three-stage evolution line with changing abilities. Players summon hybrid creatures to battle their opponent, but the twist is that either side can use a Mindbug to steal control of an opposing creature at the crucial moment. This creates constant psychological tension about when to play your best cards and when to hold back. Designed by Richard Garfield and Skaff Elias, it combines simple, elegant rules with genuine strategic depth.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's team is a big fan of the entire Mindbug series for proving that a tiny card pool can produce enormous strategic depth. The evolving creatures in this expansion add a satisfying new layer of long-term planning to the core steal-or-be-stolen tension. It's an easy recommendation for any two-player game night, whether played alone or combined with other Mindbug sets.
