About the game

Dracula vs Van Helsing is a tense two-player card duel where one player commands Dracula, spreading vampiric influence across Whitby, while the other plays Van Helsing, hunting to destroy him. Over up to five rounds, players draw and swap cards from a five-card rack representing five city districts, racing to win contested comparisons in each. Dracula wins by turning all four inhabitants of one district into vampires; Van Helsing wins by draining Dracula's health first. Quick rounds and constant hand-management tension make this a fast, thematic head-to-head battle.

Hobbli's Notes

This is a lean, mean two-player game: every card swap matters, and the asymmetric win conditions for Dracula versus Van Helsing keep both sides feeling distinct. At around 45 minutes and a light complexity rating, it's an easy one to pull out for a quick duel, and the gothic horror theme comes through strongly in both art and mechanics. It's not a deep strategic epic, but for a focused two-player showdown it delivers exactly what it promises.

What we like

  • Asymmetric goals give both sides a genuinely different play experience.
  • Quick 45-minute runtime suits repeated duels.
  • Strong gothic horror theme and artwork.
  • Simple rules make it easy to teach in minutes.

Keep in mind

  • Only supports exactly two players.
  • Limited variety once the core card types are learned.
  • Some players may find the abstracted district comparisons underwhelming thematically.
