About the game

Tesseract is a cooperative dice-manipulation game where one to four players race to contain a collapsing alien artifact before it destroys the planet. At the center of the table sits a 64-cube Tesseract block; players remove cubes into their personal labs, adjust their values, and work to isolate matching sets or runs into a shared containment matrix. Each character has a unique passive ability and special action, encouraging players to coordinate their strengths as breaches mount and the Tesseract sheds cubes every turn. Fill the containment matrix before the Tesseract runs out of cubes or too many breaches occur, or humanity's story ends here.

Hobbli's Notes

This is a tense, escalating co-op puzzle that does a great job of making dice feel like a resource to be managed rather than pure luck. The set-and-run containment puzzle offers real depth, and the solo mode is reportedly just as engaging as full-group play. It leans toward serious cooperative gamers who enjoy a mounting sense of dread as the situation deteriorates.

What we like

  • Dice-as-resource design turns randomness into a manageable puzzle.
  • Asymmetric character abilities add meaningful variety between plays.
  • Strong solo mode makes it flexible for any group size.
  • Escalating breach mechanic keeps tension mounting throughout.

Keep in mind

  • Sci-fi disaster theme may not appeal to every group.
  • Cooperative games can suffer from one player directing the others.
  • Managing a 64-cube central pool can feel fiddly at the table.
