About the game
Chronicles of Avel is a cooperative family adventure game where players build a custom hero, gather equipment, and explore a modular hex-tile land to battle the servants of the Black Moon. Combat is resolved with dice rolls, and successful fights reward new weapons, armor, and potions pulled blind from a tactile equipment bag using touch alone. As heroes grow stronger, they push deeper into Avel to defend the castle and ultimately confront the Beast. It's designed for the whole family to play together against the game.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's team enjoys the tactile 'feel the equipment' mechanic here: it's a fun, memorable twist that younger players especially love. The cooperative structure keeps everyone invested, though the dice-driven combat can feel a bit random at times. It's a solid gateway into cooperative adventure gaming for families with kids.
