About the game

Mythic Mischief is a fantasy movement game where rival factions of magical students try to get their opponents caught by the roaming Tomekeeper while staying out of its path themselves. Each faction wields unique abilities to reposition rivals, shift bookshelves, and alter the Tomekeeper's course. Players collect Tomes throughout the game to upgrade their faction's powers, adding an evolving layer of strategy. The first faction to 10 Mischief Points, or the leader when the Tomekeeper's route ends, wins.

Hobbli's Notes

We enjoy the cheeky, whimsical premise of engineering your friends' downfall via a wandering librarian. The variable powers and upgrade paths give it good replay value for a relatively light game. It's a fun, thematic pick, though the asymmetric abilities take a session or two to fully appreciate.

What we like

  • Unique 'avoid the AI hazard' movement mechanic.
  • Asymmetric factions with distinct upgrade paths.
  • Whimsical fantasy theme with fun miniatures.
  • Replayable due to variable powers and upgrades.

Keep in mind

  • Asymmetric powers require some upfront learning.
  • Moderate playtime may run long for younger kids.

Who it's for

Good fit for families and casual gamers aged 10 and up who enjoy light-to-medium strategy with a whimsical fantasy theme.
