About the game
Mosaic: A Story of Civilization is an action-selection civilization game from designer Glenn Drover in which players build a unique civilization by acquiring pillars used as prerequisites for technologies and end-game scoring. On each turn, players choose one of eight available actions to grow their cities, towns, wonders, and military while pursuing specialization that can unlock a 'Golden Age' bonus in one or more pillar categories. As the game progresses, scoring cards are revealed from four decks, triggering region-control scoring for cities, towns, wonders, and military units. After the third scoring card appears, one final turn plays out before points are tallied across wonders, projects, achievements, golden ages, and pillar-based scoring. It supports up to six players, making it one of the larger-scale civilization games on the market.
Hobbli's Notes
Mosaic offers a flexible, specialization-driven take on the civilization genre, with the pillar system giving real identity to each player's unique path. Supporting up to six players is a real strength for civ-game fans who often struggle to find games that scale that high. Sessions can run long, especially at a full table, and downtime between turns is worth planning for. A solid pick for groups who love watching distinct civilizations take shape over a full game night.
