About the game
Nations is a civilization-building game that takes players from prehistory through the dawn of the twentieth century. Each round you'll deploy workers, buy cards, or hire architects to construct wonders, all while balancing food, stability, and population growth. Historical events are revealed each round and become the object of competition among nations. There's no map and no direct attacks: instead, nations compete indirectly through cards, resources, and timing. It's a deep, engine-building strategy game with real echoes of classic 4X civilization games.
Hobbli's Notes
Nations delivers a genuine civilization-building feel without a map or combat, which makes it a rare and rewarding style of Eurogame. Balancing your nation's short-term needs against long-term growth creates constant, meaningful tension. It's a long, weighty game that demands real commitment and a few plays to really click. For fans of deep strategy and civilization progression, though, it's an excellent choice.
