About the game
Stroganov follows fur traders expanding across 16th-century Siberia, moving eastward through spring, summer, and autumn before returning home each winter. Players spend horses to travel further, then take basic actions like trading and collecting furs or coins, followed by more advanced actions such as visiting villages, setting up yurts and hunting lodges, or fulfilling the Tsar's wishes. Over four years, careful route planning and resource management determine who best captures the wealth of the frontier. It includes a solo mode for those wanting to explore Siberia alone.
Hobbli's Notes
A satisfying exploration and set collection game with a strong sense of place. It rewards long-term route planning, though its pace can feel a touch dry between big decision points.
What we like
- Strong historical exploration theme woven into mechanisms.
- Solid included solo mode.
- Satisfying route-building and set collection systems.
- Rewards long-term planning across the four in-game years.
Keep in mind
- Playtime runs long relative to its overall complexity.
- Can feel a bit dry and mechanical at times.
- Limited direct interaction between players.
Who it's for
Good for euro-gamers aged 12+ who enjoy exploration and set collection, playing solo or in groups up to 4.
