About the game

Dice Throne pits two players' heroes against each other in fast, punchy combat built from custom dice and a deep deck of ability cards. This box sets the aggressive Pyromancer, a glass-cannon who turns foes to ash, against the patient Shadow Thief, who poisons and strikes from hiding over a longer game. Each turn you roll your hero's five dice to trigger attacks and abilities, then spend the combat points you earn on cards that upgrade your hero or mess with your opponent's plans. It plays in about 40 minutes and captures the feel of a fighting-game duel using nothing but dice and cards. Season One ReRolled is a remastered edition with refreshed components and rules polish.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's editors love how distinct the heroes feel from one another: Pyromancer and Shadow Thief play like two completely different games stapled together in the best way. The dice-and-card combo gives you just enough tactical choice to feel skillful, while the dueling format keeps games short and intense. It's an easy recommend for anyone who likes head-to-head combat games but wants something faster than a full miniatures skirmish. The only catch is you'll want to buy more hero pairs to unlock the game's full replay value.

What we like

  • Fast-paced dueling combat resolves in about 40 minutes.
  • Each hero plays and feels completely distinct from the others.
  • Very low downtime keeps both players engaged throughout.
  • Combat point system rewards tactical card and dice management.
  • High replay value once additional hero pairs are added.

Keep in mind

  • Strictly a two-player experience out of the box.
  • Take-that effects can create swingy, luck-driven momentum shifts.
  • Full variety requires purchasing multiple hero boxes.
  • Dice rolls on big attacks can override careful planning.

Who it's for

Best for two players aged 8+ who enjoy quick, competitive dueling games with a fighting-game feel, especially fans of asymmetric powers and combo-building.
