About the game
Yomi is a two-player card game that simulates a fighting-game duel, testing players' ability to read their opponent's next move and judge the shifting value of their cards. Ten characters, each with a full deck functioning as a standard playing-card deck, offer distinct fighting styles and combo potential. At its core is a rock-paper-scissors-style guessing game between attacking, throwing, and blocking or dodging, with successful attacks and throws allowing follow-up combos. Designed by competitive fighting-game player David Sirlin, it distills high-level fighting-game mind games into a tight card format.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's team admires how faithfully Yomi captures the psychological 'guessing games' of high-level fighting-game competition in pure card form. The blend of hand management and rock-paper-scissors tension makes every exchange feel meaningful, rewarding players who can read patterns in their opponent's play. Ten distinct characters give it strong replay variety for a two-player game. It's a niche pick best suited to players who already enjoy competitive fighting games or tight head-to-head duels.
