About the game
This Dice Throne box pits the disciplined Monk, a master of chi who can absorb attacks before unleashing a storm of retaliation, against the righteous Paladin, whose sword strikes hard while his faith grants strong defensive options. Like all Dice Throne match-ups, both heroes roll a unique set of five dice to trigger attacks and abilities, then spend the combat points earned on cards that upgrade their hero or hinder their opponent. Games run about 40 minutes and support 1v1 duels as well as larger team formats when combined with other hero boxes. Season One ReRolled is a remastered edition with updated components and refined rules. Each hero plays with a genuinely different rhythm, giving this pairing its own distinct feel compared to other Dice Throne match-ups.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's team enjoys the push-and-pull between the Monk's defensive chi-charging playstyle and the Paladin's steady, faith-driven offense: they create a satisfying rock-paper-scissors dynamic. As with other Dice Throne boxes, the dice-and-card combo strikes a nice balance between luck and tactical planning. It's a strong choice for players who want a quick, competitive duel with real character identity. Building out a fuller roster of heroes takes additional purchases, but this pairing alone offers plenty of replay value.
What we like
- Fast-paced dueling combat resolves in about 40 minutes.
- Monk and Paladin play with genuinely distinct rhythms and strategies.
- Very low downtime keeps both players constantly engaged.
- Combat point system rewards tactical dice and card management.
- Can be combined with other hero boxes for team-based play.
Keep in mind
- Strictly a two-player experience out of the box.
- Take-that card effects can create swingy momentum shifts.
- Full hero variety requires purchasing additional boxes.
- Big attacks still hinge on dice luck despite the tactical layer.
Who it's for
Best for two players aged 8+ who enjoy quick, competitive dueling games with asymmetric hero powers and combo-building.
