About the game
Crash Octopus turns your tabletop into a stormy ocean where players flick their ships to collect cargo scattered around a giant octopus. Using a flag to flick anchors and cargo pieces, you'll race to gather all five cargo types - including a captain figure - before your rivals. Miss your flick and your turn ends, but land it and the cargo tracker advances, sometimes triggering the octopus itself to lash out and disrupt everyone's plans. It's a dexterity-driven party game full of tension and chaos as the octopus fights back.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's team enjoys the chaotic, physical energy of Crash Octopus - the tabletop-as-ocean setup and octopus-attack twist create constant laughs and tense flicking attempts. It's best enjoyed as a boisterous group activity rather than a quiet strategic session.
What we like
- Playful dexterity flicking mechanic creates constant excitement.
- Octopus-attack twist keeps every player's cargo at risk, adding tension.
- Quick 30-minute playtime suits repeated rounds.
- Fun for a wide range of ages thanks to simple physical actions.
Keep in mind
- Dexterity-heavy design may frustrate players with less steady hands.
- Table space and setup for the string perimeter can be fiddly.
- Luck of dice and flicks can outweigh skill in close games.
Who it's for
Great for families and party groups aged 7+ who enjoy dexterity and push-your-luck games for 1-5 players.
