About the game
Regicide is a cooperative fantasy card game played with a standard deck, in which 1 to 4 players team up to defeat 12 increasingly powerful royal enemies. Each turn, players play cards to attack, using suits and combos to whittle down a Jack, Queen, or King's health before the enemy strikes back. Players must manage their hands carefully and discard to survive the enemy's counterattack, with the whole team losing if they can't pay the damage. It's a quick, tactical co-op that scales smoothly from solo play to a full table.
Hobbli's Notes
It's remarkable how much tension Regicide squeezes out of an ordinary deck of cards. The escalating boss fights force real teamwork and hand-management discipline, and the game plays just as well solo as it does with a full group. Its low cost of entry (a standard deck) makes it an easy game to recommend to anyone curious about cooperative card games.
What we like
- Fully cooperative with strong solo support.
- Playable with a standard deck of cards, low cost of entry.
- Tense escalating boss battles against 12 enemies.
- Quick setup and short playtime.
Keep in mind
- Limited long-term variability once enemy patterns are learned.
- Communication limits can frustrate players who prefer open co-op discussion.
Who it's for
Great for 1-4 players, ages 10+, who enjoy cooperative card games with light-to-moderate tactical depth and quick setup.
