About the game

Cosmic Frog casts players as immortal, two-mile-tall frog creatures harvesting terrain from the shattered Shards of Aeth to help rebuild a broken world. You'll explore the shard, gather land into your gullet, and periodically leap into the Aether to deposit it safely into your vault, all while trying to maximize both matching sets and diverse land types. Combat is optional but tempting, letting you steal land directly from rival frogs' gullets or raid their vaults if they've been knocked into the Outer Dimensions. Random Aether Flux mutations and shard-shattering Splinters keep every game unpredictable and chaotic.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's editorial team finds Cosmic Frog delightfully bizarre, combining whimsical theming with surprisingly deep set-collection and area-control decisions. The freedom to play peacefully or aggressively lets groups tailor the level of conflict to their taste, though the chaos elements ensure no plan is ever fully safe. Its offbeat sense of humor and constant mutation mechanics make it stand out in a crowded genre of dungeon and area-control games. We recommend it for groups who enjoy a heavier, weirder take on competitive resource gathering.

What we like

  • Wildly original theme with immortal frog protagonists.
  • Flexible aggression lets players choose peaceful or combative playstyles.
  • Random mutations and shard destruction keep every game different.
  • Rewarding dual scoring paths (sets versus diversity) add strategic choice.

Keep in mind

  • High complexity and long 90-minute playtime may not suit casual groups.
  • Chaotic random events can undermine careful planning.
  • Niche theme and mechanics may not appeal to all players.

Who it's for

Best for experienced gamers aged 13+ who enjoy chaotic, semi-competitive resource collection with combat in groups of 2-6.
