About the game

Cosmic Encounter is a classic game of alien diplomacy and conquest where players use unique race powers to bend or break the game's core rules in pursuit of galactic conquest. Through challenges against rivals, players attempt to establish colonies on five foreign planets, often forging temporary alliances or striking secret deals along the way. Shared victories are possible, and even a player with no home planet of their own can still win. First released in 1977, this Eon edition represents the origin of a design still celebrated for its endless variability.

Hobbli's Notes

Cosmic Encounter remains a landmark design decades later thanks to its endlessly variable race powers, which constantly rewrite what's possible on your turn. The negotiation and alliance-building create a level of social chaos that few games match. Every session feels genuinely different depending on which powers are in play. A must-play classic for fans of negotiation-driven strategy games.

  • Decades of expansions and support give it huge longevity.

Keep in mind
