About the game

Splendor: Marvel reskins the beloved gem-collecting classic Splendor with the Marvel universe, tasking players with assembling teams of heroes to stop Thanos and claim the Infinity Gauntlet. Using the same elegant token-and-card economy as the original, players spend resources to recruit characters and acquire locations, building toward bonuses that let them afford ever more powerful heroes. The 'Avengers Assemble' tile adds a small new twist, passing bonus points between players as the game unfolds. At its core, it keeps Splendor's quick-to-learn, satisfying engine intact while giving Marvel fans instantly recognizable characters and art. Games wrap up in about 30 minutes, making it easy to fit into any game night.

Hobbli's Notes

If you already love Splendor, this is essentially 'more Splendor' with a coat of Marvel paint, and that's not a bad thing. The core engine is still one of the tightest gateway games around, and the license adds a fun layer of recognition for casual fans. It doesn't reinvent much mechanically, so don't expect a dramatically different experience from the original. As a quick, family-friendly filler with broad appeal, it remains a very safe recommendation.

What we like

  • Extremely easy to teach and quick to play.
  • Marvel theming adds instant appeal for fans.
  • Fast turns keep downtime low.
  • Great gateway game for new players.

Keep in mind

  • Very similar experience to the original Splendor.
  • Limited strategic depth for experienced gamers.
  • Little long-term variability between plays.
