About the game

Riftforce is a two-player duel card game in which each player drafts four of ten unique elemental guilds to forge their own asymmetrical alliance before battle. Every turn offers one of three actions: strengthening your position at the Rift, sacrificing elementals for powerful combo attacks, or gathering support for your next turn. Players win Riftforce by destroying their opponent's elementals and controlling locations along the Rift, racing to ascend into a higher state of power before their rival does.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's editors love how Riftforce packs a huge amount of combinatorial depth into a small two-player card duel. Drafting four guilds out of ten means every match feels different, and discovering new synergies between elemental powers keeps the game endlessly replayable. It's strictly a two-player experience, and figuring out strong guild combos takes a few plays to click.

What we like

  • Deep asymmetric guild combinations from ten unique factions.
  • Quick setup with fast, tense turns.
  • High replayability from drafting different guild combos each game.
  • Small, portable box for a two-player strategy game.

Keep in mind

  • Only supports two players.
  • Combat can feel swingy until synergies are learned.
  • Takes a few plays to appreciate guild interactions fully.

Who it's for

Great for two players who enjoy tactical card duels with combo-building; fans of quick, portable strategy games will appreciate its depth.
