About the game
Risk: The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Edition expands the classic Risk formula onto a detailed map of Middle-earth spanning Gondor, Mordor, and Haradwaith. Players battle for territorial control using an area-majority system enhanced with movement, card-driven campaigns, and team-based alliance rules. Additional territory cards, battalions, and adventure cards drawn from the entire film trilogy add variety beyond the base Risk: LotR Edition. It's a large-scale, thematic take on Risk for fans of the films.
Hobbli's Notes
This trilogy edition is essentially the well-regarded Risk: LotR Edition bulked up with an extra board and more cards, giving fans of the films a bigger canvas to fight over. It retains Risk's straightforward area-control appeal while layering in enough Tolkien flavor to satisfy fans. At three hours for up to four players, it's a substantial commitment best suited to a dedicated game night. Long-time Risk players looking for thematic variety should find plenty to like here.
