About the game
Rush M.D. is a real-time cooperative game where 1-4 players work as doctors and nurses in a brand-new hospital, racing to admit, diagnose, and treat patients before time runs out. Using hourglass-shaped 'workers,' players perform exams, surgeries, and medicine deliveries, but each hourglass is locked in place until its sand runs out, forcing constant, high-pressure decisions. The whole game unfolds across four intense four-minute rounds, for a total of just sixteen minutes of frantic teamwork. It's built for players who like their cooperative games fast, thematic, and full of urgency.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's team finds the sand-timer worker placement in Rush M.D. genuinely stressful in the best way - it captures the chaos of emergency medicine surprisingly well for a board game. The short, sharp rounds keep the tension high without demanding a long session. It's a great palate-cleanser between heavier games. Groups who dislike real-time pressure should steer clear, though.
What we like
- Real-time hourglass mechanic creates genuine urgency and excitement.
- Very short overall playtime fits well into any game night.
- Strong thematic tie between mechanics and the medical setting.
- Works well solo or with a full group of four.
Keep in mind
- Real-time pressure can overwhelm players who prefer to think things through.
- High replay speed may feel chaotic rather than strategic to some.
- Not suited to players seeking a relaxed cooperative experience.
Who it's for
Great for 1-4 players, ages 14+, who enjoy fast, high-pressure cooperative games and don't mind a ticking clock.
