About the game
Dune adapts Frank Herbert's classic novel into a legendary negotiation-driven wargame for up to six players, each controlling a distinct faction vying for control of the desert planet Arrakis and its precious spice. Victory can come through military conquest, but the true heart of the game lies in shifting alliances, secret deals, and betrayal between players. With deeply asymmetric factions and rules that reward diplomacy as much as combat, every session tells a different political story.
Hobbli's Notes
Dune is a towering classic of negotiation gaming, and it's every bit as good as its reputation suggests when played with a full, committed table. The asymmetric factions and constant back-room dealing create some of the most memorable moments in tabletop gaming, but it absolutely demands time and an engaged group.
What we like
- Legendary asymmetric negotiation and alliance-building gameplay.
- Deep replayability thanks to six wildly distinct factions.
- Superbly captures the political intrigue of the source material.
- Rewards diplomacy and reading opponents as much as combat skill.
Keep in mind
- Very long playtime, frequently exceeding three hours.
- Significant downtime for players between their turns.
- Really needs a full, committed group of six to shine.
- Steep learning curve for rules and faction strategy.
Who it's for
Best for experienced gamers ages 14 and up who enjoy negotiation and asymmetric strategy, ideally with a full table of six committed to a long session.
