About the game
KeyForge: Age of Ascension expands the world's first Unique Deck Game with 204 new cards, giving each two-player starter set a pair of one-of-a-kind Archon Decks to pilot. Players choose a House each turn and can play every card from it for free, since no card in KeyForge has a cost. Turns move quickly as you reap Æmber, fight off your rival's creatures, and race to forge three keys to win. Because every deck is unique straight out of the box, no deckbuilding is required before you sit down to play. It's a fast, tactical head-to-head card game built for quick, replayable duels.
Hobbli's Notes
The no-deckbuilding, no-card-cost design makes KeyForge refreshingly quick to pick up compared to traditional CCGs. Age of Ascension's expanded card pool keeps the decks feeling varied even after many plays. We appreciate that every deck is genuinely unique, so no two games ever quite play the same. It rewards adapting your strategy on the fly more than deep deck optimization.
What we like
- Every Archon Deck is truly unique, so no deckbuilding is needed before play.
- Cards from your chosen House can all be played for free, keeping turns fast and dynamic.
- An expanded 370-card pool from Age of Ascension adds fresh variety and interactions.
- Quick 45-minute games make it easy to fit in multiple duels in one sitting.
Keep in mind
- Unique decks can occasionally feel unbalanced against certain opponents.
- Strictly a two-player game, limiting group play options.
- Collectors who enjoy customizing their own deck may miss traditional deckbuilding.
Who it's for
Great for two-player card game fans aged 14+ who want fast, tactical duels without the overhead of deck construction.
