About the game
Spire's End is a solo and cooperative card-driven adventure set in a strange tower that has swallowed a Viking town whole. Playing through an oversized deck like a book, you make difficult choices, flip cards to reveal encounters, and manage combat where stronger attacks cost precious hit points. Across a six-chapter campaign, seven adventurers give you seven chances to unravel the mystery and rescue the missing townsfolk. It's a streamlined, narrative-heavy card game with minimal bookkeeping and heavy retro-adventure atmosphere.
Hobbli's Notes
A real hidden-gem feel here: the risk-your-hit-points combat system and flip-through-the-deck storytelling create an intimate, atmospheric solo experience with very little setup or overhead.
What we like
- Minimal components and setup make it easy to bring anywhere.
- Risk-based combat, spending hit points for stronger attacks, adds tense decisions.
- Six-chapter campaign gives a satisfying narrative arc.
- Strong solo design that also supports light cooperative play.
Keep in mind
- Niche, lesser-known title with a smaller player community.
- Long two-hour playtime for a card-based adventure.
- Narrative-driven format loses replay value once the story is known.
Who it's for
Best for solo players and small groups, ages 14-16 and up, who enjoy narrative-driven card adventures with light bookkeeping.
