About the game
Rumble Nation, originally released as Tenka Meidou, is an area control dice game set during Japan's Sengoku Civil War era. Players roll three dice to determine where their soldiers deploy across the map's 11 castles, then use tactic cards to swing the balance of power. Reinforcement chains let armies support each other from castle to castle, so watching the flow of the battlefield is key. Sparks from one battle can quickly ignite conflicts elsewhere, making positioning as important as raw numbers.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's editorial team appreciates how Rumble Nation turns simple dice results into a genuinely tactical area-control puzzle through its reinforcement chain system. The tactic cards give players just enough agency to offset bad rolls, which keeps the dice from feeling too dominant. It's a quick, punchy game that rewards spatial awareness over deep long-term planning. As a lesser-known title, we're less certain how it compares against bigger area-control names, so we're flagging it for review.
What we like
- Reinforcement chains add real tactical depth to dice placement.
- Tactic cards help offset unlucky rolls.
- Quick 40-minute playtime with meaningful decisions.
- Works well at multiple player counts, including two players.
Keep in mind
- Dice rolling introduces luck that may frustrate strategic players.
- Area control can lead to kingmaking in three-plus player games.
- Relatively thin theme and production compared to bigger titles.
Who it's for
Good for area-control fans aged 10+ in groups of 2-4 looking for a quick, tactical dice game.
