About the game

Weimar: The Fight for Democracy is a card-driven wargame simulating the turbulent birth of Germany's first democracy after the fall of the monarchy in 1918. Social Democrats and Conservatives fight to defend the fragile Republic while Communists and Nationalists scheme to overthrow it, each with asymmetric, contradictory goals. Play unfolds across two battlegrounds: shaping public opinion on key issues, and controlling the streets through demonstrations and paramilitary action. Across six turns, each faction sets an agenda and plays cards for events, opinion, or street actions, building toward a tense historical showdown.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's team sees Weimar as a serious, ambitious card-driven game that treats a pivotal and weighty period of history with real nuance. The dual public-opinion and street-control battlegrounds create rich asymmetric strategy rarely matched in the genre. This is a major undertaking, with a six-hour playtime and the game's top commitment grade, so it's really only for committed wargame and CDG groups ready to dedicate a full session.
