About the game
Brotherhood & Unity is a card-driven wargame for 2-3 players depicting the brutal 1992-1995 Bosnian War, with each side - Bosniaks, Serbs, and Croats - pursuing different historical objectives. Players use Strategy Cards to trigger events or take actions like movement, attack, diplomacy, and reinforcement, all resolved through a fast, CRT-free combat system. Shifting alliances, a foreign-attitude track, and a strategic-will scoring system capture the messy, three-sided nature of the conflict. It's a serious, historically detailed wargame built for two to three hours of tense card-driven strategy.
Hobbli's Notes
This is a heavy, historically sober wargame that doesn't shy away from the real weight of its subject matter - the shifting three-way alliances create some of the most interesting asymmetric tension we've seen in a card-driven wargame. It demands real investment in rules and setup, and is emphatically not a casual pickup. For dedicated wargamers interested in modern conflict history, it's a rewarding, thought-provoking design.
What we like
- Detailed three-sided asymmetric design captures a complex real conflict.
- Card-driven system streamlines combat while preserving strategic depth.
- Foreign Attitude track adds a compelling diplomatic dimension.
- High replayability from the card-fog-of-war deck construction.
Keep in mind
- Long, rules-heavy sessions (up to 2-3 hours) demand serious commitment.
- Heavy, somber subject matter may not suit all groups.
- Limited to 2-3 players only.
Who it's for
Best for 2-3 experienced wargamers aged 14+ interested in modern military history and card-driven systems.
