About the game
In Orbis, players become gods sculpting their own universe from tiles reclaimed from the aether. By drafting region and god tiles, you attract worshippers whose colors accumulate on neighboring tiles, making them more valuable - or more contested - for the next player. Fifteen rounds of careful tile drafting and placement decide who accumulates the most creation points by game's end. It's a tactical drafting game about timing your picks and reading how the board will evolve.
Hobbli's Notes
Orbis rewards players who can see a couple of moves ahead - every tile you take changes the incentives for everyone after you, which creates a nice tension between grabbing value now and denying it to others. The mythology theme is light but pleasant window dressing on a tight tile-drafting engine. It's a satisfying mid-weight choice for groups who like puzzly, interactive drafting games.
What we like
- Tight drafting puzzle where every choice affects the next player.
- Light mythology theme adds charm without adding complexity.
- Bonus god tiles create build variety between games.
- Moderate 45-minute playtime for its strategic depth.
Keep in mind
- Drafting can create some analysis-paralysis for cautious players.
- Limited player interaction beyond tile availability.
Who it's for
Suited to 2-4 players who enjoy tactical drafting and tile-placement games, ages 10+, at a moderate complexity level.
