About the game
In Atlantis Rising, up to seven players work cooperatively to save their sinking island civilization by placing workers to gather resources and build a cosmic gate before the shoreline vanishes beneath the waves. Misfortune cards flood the coastline each round, and a Wrath of the Gods phase forces the group to make hard collective decisions about which areas to sacrifice. This second edition refreshes the game with expanded Councilor powers and new worker placement spots tied to the gate's construction.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's team likes how Atlantis Rising layers real urgency onto worker placement, since the shrinking map keeps forcing tough sacrifices round after round. It supports a notably large player count for a cooperative game, which is a nice rarity. A solid pick for groups who enjoy racing-against-the-clock cooperative challenges.
What we like
- Supports up to seven players, unusual for a cooperative game.
- Shrinking shoreline creates real mounting tension each round.
- Expanded Councilor powers add asymmetric variety.
- Solo mode available for single-player games.
Keep in mind
- Longer two-hour playtime is a commitment for casual groups.
- Cooperative games can suffer from one player dominating decisions.
Who it's for
Suited for gamers aged 10+ who enjoy cooperative worker placement with real time pressure; supports up to seven players, making it a great option for larger groups.
