About the game
Forbidden Sky is Matt Leacock's high-flying entry in the Forbidden... cooperative series, sending your team to explore a mysterious platform floating at the center of a raging storm. Working together, you'll build a real electrical circuit across the board using cables and components, all while dodging lightning strikes and the risk of being blown off into the depths below. It combines classic Forbidden-series tension with a genuinely novel twist - a physical circuit you construct as part of the puzzle. It's a tense, collaborative race against the storm for 2-5 players.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's team loves that Forbidden Sky introduces an actual working circuit into the gameplay - completing it feels satisfying in a way few board games achieve. As with the rest of the Forbidden... series, it strikes a great balance of cooperative planning and rising tension, and it scales nicely down to solo play.
What we like
- Novel real electrical circuit mechanic makes success feel tangible.
- Strong cooperative tension consistent with the acclaimed Forbidden series.
- Modular board and variable player powers add replayability.
- Solo mode makes it flexible for any group size.
Keep in mind
- Physical circuit components can be fiddly to set up and connect correctly.
- Downtime can build up during group planning discussions (downtime grade B, moderate).
- Random lightning/storm elements can feel unfair late in a close game.
Who it's for
Great for families and cooperative-game fans aged 10+ looking for a tense, puzzle-driven team challenge for 2-5 players, including solo.
