About the game

Bargain Quest puts players behind the counter as shopkeepers competing to outfit heroes for battle. You'll draft items each round, then secretly arrange your shop window to lure the best heroes to your door before they head off to fight monsters. As heroes succeed or fail in combat, shopkeepers earn gold and prestige, upgrade their shops, and hire employees. Whoever accumulates the most gold and prestige after the third monster falls wins this clever blend of drafting and bluffing.

Hobbli's Notes

Bargain Quest is a clever, funny game that flips the usual adventurer's tale to focus on the shopkeepers behind the scenes. Hobbli loves the secret-bidding tension of arranging your shop window just right to attract the best hero. It's a great pick for groups who enjoy light strategy mixed with plenty of table talk and laughs.

What we like

  • Clever, funny take on the fantasy-shopkeeper theme.
  • Engaging secret window-arrangement bluffing mechanic.
  • Good player count range from two up to six.
  • Charming, colorful art and presentation.

Keep in mind

  • Take-that drafting can create friction among competitive players.
  • Combat resolution can feel a bit swingy.

Who it's for
