About the game

Trickerion: Legends of Illusion is a competitive worker-placement game in which players take on the roles of rival stage illusionists in a late 19th-century city steeped in magic. Using workers like the Engineer, Assistant, and Manager, you'll gather blueprints and components, develop increasingly elaborate magic tricks, and stage performances at the Theater for fame and coin. A tile-placement mini-game determines how well each performance goes over seven rounds. The illusionist with the most fame after the final performance wins the competition for the legendary Trickerion Stone.

Hobbli's Notes

Trickerion stands out for its unique blend of simultaneous worker placement and a tile-laying performance mini-game, giving it a distinct feel among heavier euros. The theme of rival magicians is a fun departure from the usual economic or civilization settings. It does demand a significant time and rules investment, so it's best suited to groups already comfortable with dense worker-placement design.

What we like

  • Unique magician theme stands apart from typical euro settings.
  • Tile-placement performance mini-game adds a fresh twist to worker placement.
  • Simultaneous action selection reduces downtime between turns.
  • Deep customization through tricks, blueprints, and character abilities.

Keep in mind

  • Long playtime and high complexity limit accessibility.
  • Significant rules overhead and setup time.
  • Catch-the-leader dynamics can feel punishing to whoever is ahead.

Who it's for
