About the game

Diamonds is a trick-taking card game where the goal isn't just winning tricks but collecting acrylic Diamond Crystals into your Showroom and secure Vault. What sets it apart is that failing to follow suit still rewards you with a Suit Action, so even a 'bad' play advances your position. Over ten-trick rounds for 2-6 players, everyone jockeys for crystal control while trying to protect their Showroom from theft. It's a quick, tactile spin on a classic card genre.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli appreciates how the Suit Action twist means there's rarely a truly dead card in your hand, keeping every trick meaningful. The physical crystals add a satisfying tactile element that elevates it above a typical trick-taking deck. It's light enough for a casual group but has enough push-and-pull over the Vault versus Showroom to reward some planning. A great gateway trick-taker for players new to the genre.

What we like

  • Unique Suit Action system rewards every card played, not just tricks won.
  • Tactile acrylic crystal components add a fun collectible feel.
  • Fast 30-minute playtime fits easily into a game night.
  • Easy to teach to trick-taking newcomers.

Keep in mind

  • Luck of the deal still plays a meaningful role in outcomes.
  • Downtime can build slightly with a full six-player table.
  • Theme is thin and mostly a wrapper for the mechanics.
