About the game
Planet Apocalypse casts you and your friends as humanity's last line of defense against a full-scale demonic invasion. Battle waves of hell-spawned monsters using large, detailed plastic miniatures while defending a hellgate from being overrun. Along the way you develop your hero with new gear and abilities, blending straightforward tactical combat with light tower-defense and RPG progression. Designed by Sandy Petersen, it delivers big, cinematic cooperative battles for one to five players.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's editorial team loves the raw spectacle here: huge miniatures, escalating demon swarms, and the satisfying crunch of tower-defense strategy layered onto a dungeon-crawl chassis. It's a big table commitment, but the payoff is a genuinely tense cooperative fight that rewards teamwork and smart hero builds.
What we like
- Large, high-quality plastic miniatures create an impressive tabletop presence.
- Blends dungeon-crawl combat with tower-defense pressure for a distinct feel.
- Hero progression across sessions gives a satisfying sense of growth.
- Fully cooperative play encourages real teamwork against a common threat.
- Solo mode makes it accessible even without a full group.
Keep in mind
- High complexity and long playtime demand a serious table commitment.
- Miniature assembly and setup can be time-consuming.
- Escalating demon waves may overwhelm newer cooperative gamers.
Who it's for
Best for groups of 2-5 fans of cooperative miniature battlers and horror-fantasy themes, ages 14 and up, who don't mind a meaty rules commitment and long play sessions.
