About the game

Insider turns a simple word-guessing quiz into a tense social deduction game for four to eight players. A 'master' secretly picks a word, and one player, the 'insider,' is quietly told what it is while pretending to be just another guesser. The rest of the group asks yes-or-no questions to deduce the secret word, with the insider subtly nudging them toward it without giving themselves away. If the word is guessed in time, the group then has to figure out who among them was the insider. It's a clever, conversation-driven party game about hidden influence and persuasion.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's editorial team loves Insider for how it turns an ordinary '20 questions' format into something surprisingly devious. The insider's dual goal of helping without being caught creates constant, delightful paranoia around the table. It's a wonderful icebreaker for groups who enjoy talking, deducing, and gently accusing each other. A fantastic party pick when you want conversation-heavy fun rather than heavy rules.

What we like

  • Clever hidden-traitor twist on a classic quiz format.
  • Quick 15-minute rounds keep energy high.
  • Scales well for larger groups up to eight.
  • Sparks great discussion, bluffing, and accusation.

Keep in mind

  • Relies heavily on talkative, engaged players.
  • Insider role can feel unbalanced if overused.
  • Less exciting with very small groups.

Who it's for

Great for teens and adults who enjoy talkative social deduction party games, ideal for groups of 4-8.
