About the game

Enchanters is a fantasy card-drafting game where players craft ever-more-powerful artifacts by combining item and enchantment cards, then use them to battle monsters. Draft cards from a shared journey track, paying crystals to build weapons like the "Long Sword of Fire," accumulating attack and defense to take on progressively stronger foes. Points come from defeated monsters, kept as trophies, with the biggest prize reserved for players bold enough to challenge the dragon. Quick turns and light drafting decisions make this an accessible fantasy game for small groups. The game ends when the journey track's card supply runs dry.

Hobbli's Notes

Enchanters strikes a nice balance between light drafting and a satisfying power-fantasy feel as your artifacts snowball in strength. The combat is simple math rather than deep tactics, which keeps the pace brisk but also caps the strategic depth. It's a comfortable mid-weight fantasy filler that plays well with players dipping toes into hobby games. Card synergies between item and enchantment combos give it a bit of deckbuilder-style satisfaction without deckbuilding's overhead.

What we like

  • Satisfying sense of progression as your artifacts grow more powerful each turn.
  • Quick drafting decisions keep downtime low even at four players.
  • Thematic combination of item and enchantment cards creates fun named results.
  • Accessible rules make it easy to teach to new fantasy-game fans.

Keep in mind

  • Combat resolution is fairly simple math with limited tactical depth.
  • Card luck in the draft can swing a player's fortunes.
  • May feel too light for experienced strategy gamers.
