About the game
Carrom is a classic 'finger pool' dexterity game played on a wooden board, where players flick a weighted striker to pocket smaller discs, or carrom-men, into the four corner pockets. The goal is to sink all your carrom-men plus the red Queen before your opponent, scoring points each round. Games continue until a player reaches 25 points or eight rounds are completed. With a history spanning South Asia and beyond, it's a beloved traditional game of genuine skill.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's team appreciates Carrom as a timeless dexterity classic with simple rules but a surprisingly high skill ceiling. It plays well solo-focused turns or as team competition, and its long cultural history gives it real staying power. It does require a dedicated board and some table space, which is worth knowing before you buy.
What we like
- Simple rules paired with a genuinely high skill ceiling.
- Builds real physical dexterity over repeated play.
- Great for team-based competition.
- Rich cultural history and worldwide following.
- Suitable for a very wide age range.
Keep in mind
- Requires a dedicated board and open playing space.
- Takes practice to develop real skill.
- Less strategic depth than modern hobby board games.
Who it's for
All ages 6+ looking for a physical skill game, playable individually or in teams of 2-4.
