About the game
Pictomania is a frantic drawing-and-guessing party game where everyone draws and guesses simultaneously - no waiting your turn. Each round, players sketch a secretly assigned word while also trying to identify what everyone else is drawing, racing to grab bonus tokens before time runs out. This second edition streamlines setup with fewer word cards in play at once for faster rounds. Designed by Vlaada Chvátil, it rewards both drawing wit and sharp guessing instincts.
Hobbli's Notes
Pictomania flips the usual drawing-game formula by having everyone draw and guess at once, which keeps the energy high and downtime near zero. It's a great leveler too - weaker artists can still win by being sharp guessers. A go-to party pick for mixed groups who want laughs without much rules overhead.
What we like
- Simultaneous drawing and guessing eliminates downtime entirely.
- Rewards multiple skills, so weak artists can still win.
- Quick rounds keep energy and laughs flowing.
- Easy to teach to new or younger players.
Keep in mind
- Requires a group willing to be silly and share drawings publicly.
- Real-time chaos may overwhelm players who prefer calmer pacing.
- Less strategic depth for gamers seeking a heavier challenge.
Who it's for
Great for parties and family groups of 3-6 players, ages 8+, including those who don't consider themselves good artists.
