About the game
Stronghold: 2nd Edition is a two-player asymmetric siege game where one player defends a castle and the other commands an endless horde of attackers over seven rounds. The defender manages limited soldiers, walls, and cannons, while the invader builds war machines and trains troops to break through before time runs out. Hidden objective and defense plan cards add bluffing and unpredictability to each side's strategy. It's a tense race between fortification and overwhelming assault.
Hobbli's Notes
The asymmetry here is fantastic: defending and attacking feel like genuinely different games, and the hidden plans keep both sides guessing. This streamlined second edition trims some fiddliness from the original while keeping the tense siege drama intact. A strong pick for two players who enjoy asymmetric, thematic combat games.
What we like

- Hidden objective and defense cards add bluffing tension.
- Streamlined rules compared to the original edition.
- Strong medieval siege theme and artwork.

- Ninety-minute playtime can feel long for casual audiences.
