About the game

Porta Nigra places players as Roman architects working on the massive city gate of Porta Nigra in ancient Trier. Each player controls a master builder who moves around a circular rondel track, allowing purchases or construction only at their current location. Cards in a personal draw deck determine available actions, and buildings are physically erected using 3D pieces around the city. Moving farther along the track costs more, forcing players to plan their routes carefully.

Hobbli's Notes

Porta Nigra is a clever rondel-driven euro from the reliably strong Kiesling and Kramer design duo. The physical 3D building pieces give real tabletop presence to your growing city. Balancing movement costs against your card-driven action plan creates a satisfying strategic puzzle. It's a solid pick for fans of city-building euros with a historical bent.
