About the game

La Boca is a real-time team-building game for 3-6 players, inspired by the colorful, eccentric skyline of Buenos Aires's La Boca neighborhood. Players pair up across from one another, but each partner can only see the target skyline from their own point of view, so the pair must talk constantly to figure out where every piece actually goes. Teams race against a timer to build the skyline as quickly and accurately as possible before rotating out for the next pair to try. It's a light, energetic game built around real-time pattern building and communication rather than deep strategy. With a playtime of about 40 minutes and minimal rules, it's easy to jump into with a big group.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's team finds La Boca to be a joyful, slightly chaotic party pick: the mismatched perspectives lead to a lot of laughing, miscommunication, and frantic pointing. It's best enjoyed as a group activity rather than a serious strategy game, and it works particularly well for team-building settings where communication is the point. Rounds move fast, so even a large group gets through several rotations in one sitting. It won't hold up to repeated serious plays, but as an occasional energetic icebreaker it's excellent.

What we like

  • Fast-paced real-time team communication challenge.
  • Simple rules make it accessible to nearly all ages.
  • Energetic party atmosphere with rotating pairs keeps everyone involved.
  • Low downtime keeps the whole table engaged.
  • Colorful, tactile components add to the fun.

Keep in mind

  • Real-time pressure can stress out more cautious players.
  • Offers very limited strategic depth.
  • Chaotic communication may leave quieter players frustrated.
  • Works best with an even number of players for pair rotation.

Who it's for

Great for larger groups of 3-6 players aged 6+ looking for a fast, communicative party or team-building game.
