About the game

Relic is an adventure board game set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, where 2-4 players take on powerful heroes venturing to protect the Antian Sector from doom. Built on the Talisman system, players roll dice to move around the board, drawing cards that trigger encounters with enemies, locations, and strangers. Characters grow in power as they complete missions, working toward a final confrontation with the evil lurking at the board's center. Variable player powers keep each hero's journey distinct.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's editors see Relic as a solid reskin of the beloved Talisman formula, dressed in grimdark Warhammer 40K flavor. It's an easy, luck-driven adventure that works well for casual groups who enjoy rolling dice and drawing cards toward a big final showdown. Fans of Talisman will feel right at home, while 40K fans get a nice thematic bonus.

What we like

  • Familiar, accessible Talisman-style adventure system.
  • Strong Warhammer 40,000 theming appeals to franchise fans.
  • Variable player powers give heroes distinct playstyles.
  • Easy to teach thanks to simple roll-and-move core loop.

Keep in mind

  • Heavy reliance on dice and card draws can reduce strategic control.
  • 120-minute playtime can drag for a fairly luck-driven game.
  • Player elimination-adjacent setbacks can slow down trailing players.

Who it's for

Good for ages 10+ casual adventure-game fans and Warhammer 40K enthusiasts in groups of 2-4.
